Web Resource Serves Critical Space Needs of NYC Musicians
August 1, 2003
NYC MUSIC PLACES, www.nycmusicplaces.org:
- enables musicians — instrumentalists and vocalists, from
soloists to symphony orchestras, rock bands to jazz quartets — to find
rehearsal and performance spaces throughout New York City's five boroughs.
- lists hundreds of spaces as varied as the music community in
New York City.
- is free, easy to use and saves musicians valuable
time and money.
The NYC Music Places website asks users for basic criteria, such as rental rate parameters, number of
musicians, desired neighborhood, audience capacity, etc. Once these criteria
are entered, a list of "matches" appears. Details include whether
the spaces have music stands, chairs, percussion equipment, a piano and
secure storage.
NYC Music Places provides contact information for all facilities so that
the user may arrange a site visit or check availability of a potential space;
the NYC Music Places website does not book the spaces.
Exploring the Metroplolis,
the nonprofit sponsor, is the only organization that has as its sole focus
resolving the workspace needs of performing artists. The organization is
committed to identifying and helping to create spaces for the performing
arts through both web and non-web services. More information about these
resources is available at www.xtmnyc.org.
We hope you'll explore www.nycmusicplaces.org
and share news of this important resource.
